Implant Dentures In A Day

Removable dentures are effective, but they have some downsides. For example, they can slip occasionally, and need replacement as the jaw ridge changes shape, every 10 years on average. However, we can offer our Woodland Hills, CA, patients a more secure option with dental implants, and in some cases, we can even do so in one day!

How Do Implant Dentures Work?

A traditional denture is created based on detailed impressions and measurements taken of the smile. The resulting prosthetic then requires natural suction to stay in place, or possibly the assistance of a special adhesive. While they do help address the daily complications of tooth loss, allowing people to eat a greater variety of foods and smile with confidence, they could sometimes slip and need to be replaced every five to ten years. However, with implant dentistry there is no need to rely on suction. Instead, a series of dental implants will be placed into each arch. Made from biocompatible titanium, the body accepts them as natural tooth roots and they actually bond with the jawbone through a process known as osseointegration. This prevents the loss of mass and density in the jaw as a result of tooth loss, allowing your new teeth to stay in place for decades, possibly even a lifetime.

Same Day Placement

Traditionally, the dental implants will be placed into the jawbone, and will need three to four months to bond with the bone tissue. Only after this process is facilitated will we be able to place your custom and lifelike prosthetic. However, with same-day, we have designed and crafted your restorations or prosthetic beforehand. We then remove any teeth necessary, and place your dental implants and your prosthetic in the same visit. When you leave, you do so with a full smile!

All-On-4®

We also have a less invasive option, and one that can work for people who have lost jawbone structure as a result of untreated tooth loss. Instead of needing between six and eight implants per arch, we only use four that are specially placed to absorb bite forces and stimulate jawbone tissue. The patient doesn’t require as invasive a surgery, and the healing period is shorter too.
