“What Do You Dislike About Your Smile?”
First things first, you might not have a very easy time verbalizing exactly what you dislike about your smile in clinical dental terms. This doesn’t matter. You just need to be prepared to explain to your cosmetic dentist what you don’t like in your own terms. Perhaps this means you say, “my teeth are crooked,” or “my smile looks brown.” While we might refer to these issues as “misalignment” or “discoloration,” it makes no difference. The important thing is that we understand your frustration, so we can help.
“What Are You Hoping To Accomplish?”
Maybe there are some specific issues you dislike about your smile. Perhaps there are some things you love that other patients might fix. As a result, it’s important for you to tell your cosmetic dentist what you do and do not wish to accomplish. For instance, one patient with a small gap between her two front teeth and a yellowed smile may wish to fill the gap and to achieve a whiter smile. The other patient with the same features may love the little gap (and may wish to leave it as is) but wants teeth whitening. When it comes to esthetics, it’s all about preferences.
