Myth Or Fact: Cosmetic Care

Myth: Cosmetic dentistry is primarily geared toward individuals in their 20s.

Fact: This couldn’t be further from being accurate. As long as your teeth are healthy (meaning you do not currently require restorative treatments like fillings or root canal therapy), you are a good candidate for care. (Keep in mind: Cosmetic care is generally reserved for adults and mature teens whose teeth have finished growing).

Myth: You can only change one aspect of your smile at a time because you can only receive one treatment at a time.

Fact: Actually, cosmetic dentistry is quite a versatile area of care. We may offer multiple treatments at once or within rapid succession of one another. Or, we may suggest porcelain veneers to provide you with a multitude of changes without the need for multiple treatments.

Myth: If you want porcelain veneers, you are going to have to lose a large amount of your tooth tissue in preparation.

Fact: Actually, for patients with very mild needs, we may not need to remove any tissue. For those with more significant esthetic needs, we may gently polish off a tiny amount of enamel. We prep your teeth this way to make sure the veneers fit as beautifully as possible.
