How To Achieve A Brighter Smile At Home

One of the benefits of store-bought systems is the ability to brighten your smile at home. However, the results they offer are often subpar when compared to professional teeth whitening. Which is why we’re proud to provide our Woodland Hills, CA, patients a whitening system they can use at home. With our trays and gel, you can enjoy a significantly brighter smile with results that last much longer than over-the-counter alternatives.

The At-Home Whitening System

How exactly does our at-home teeth whitening system work? We begin by taking detailed digital impressions of your smile. These detailed impressions enable our team to create a set of trays from a clear plastic material. We then send the patient home with our custom trays and a bleaching gel. Treatment involves filling the trays with gel and wearing them for about a half hour to 45 minutes. You will need to do this every day for between a week and ten days to see optimal results. Over the course of your treatment, the gel will break up the discoloration on your teeth. Some may even enjoy a smile brightened by multiple shades. We want to help you obtain a smile you can be proud of, with results that are more dramatic than the ones offered by store bought systems.

Routine Care and Better Snack Habits

Once you brighten your smile, you’ll want to take steps keep your teeth bright. By brushing and flossing teeth daily, you remove food particles that could cause plaque buildup. Plaque not only increases the risk of tooth decay and gum disease, but could make stains more visible. You should also cut back on drinks with dark pigments, such as red wine, coffee, soda, and tea, as these could lead to staining. Remember that sugary foods and drinks promote plaque (as well as tooth decay). Your trays and remaining gel can also be used for touch-ups down the road!

What About Permanent Stains?

Most teeth stains are extrinsic, meaning they form on the surface of the teeth. But what intrinsic staining? Also known as permanent discoloration, these form below the enamel and may be caused by fluorosis, injury to the teeth, or tetracycline use at a young age. While our trays and gel may remove minor intrinsic stains, serious discoloration may need to be masked with dental bonding or our lifelike veneers.
